It's that time of year again--time to gear up for Camp Furst State, our yearly camping trip! We're back for our fifth year!

When: Thursday September 19th - Sunday September 22nd, 2013 (Please note that you are welcome to camp from only Friday to Sunday if you are unable to attend on Thursday, but the cost you pay will be the same.)

Who: YOU! Campers must be over 18 years of age on September 19th. If you're a minor, you will need to bring a parent or legal guardian. They will need to pay normal registration fees, same as a regular attendee.

Cost per person: $50, same rate for all attendees.

Pack your bags and join us for four days of fun! We are reserving several adjoining sites that can hold two tents each. For this reason, you absolutely MUST RSVP by August 1st! If, after September 1st, you decide you no longer want to come, I will not be able to refund your payment.


What You Need to Bring:
- A sleeping bag, or few blankets (one to lay on, one to cover up with)
- A Pillow
- A folding chair/beach chair for sitting around the campfire on
- Bathing suit, if you plan on swimming
- Any other beach stuff you'd like to bring: boogie board, shovel and bucket, etc
- Shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush or comb, razor if you shave, deodorant - all the stuff you'd use at home
- Towel for drying off from the beach, and a separate one for the shower if you'd like
- Flip flops or sandals you don't mind getting wet - for the shower
- Sunscreen
- Bug repellent, lots of it!
- A flashlight - not absolutely necessary but very useful!
- Plastic bag to put dirty clothes in once you've worn them
- Your clothes! Extras are a good idea, in case you get your stuff dirty.


What You Don't Need to Bring:
- Large, expensive electronics (laptops, televisions, etc. Small items like mp3 players or radios are fine)
- Your fursuit. The ground at Cape Henlopen is plain ol dirt, it'll get filthy! Tails and ears are fine if you want to wear them around Rehoboth, but please bring these items at your own risk! We can't guarantee they won't get dirty!



The amount you pay towards food will buy all of the following items, which you are free to partake in. If you want anything different (vegetarian items, porkchops, snack foods, kosher hotdogs, lunchmeat, certain beverages, whatever), bring em yourself. You are free to share your special items with the rest of the group, or keep them for yourself.

We will be meeting up at Kitt3ns' house at 11:30am on Thursday, September 19th. This will give us plenty of time to pack up the cars and hit the road.

Cape Henlopen will not let you into the campground until 1:00pm, so if you get there early, you're going to have to wait!

What do do when you arrive:
Drive into the park and follow the signs to the campground. You will come to a small shed where you're supposed to check in for camping. If you arrive on or around 1pm, ask them if our party has checked in yet. Mention sites 136, 135, 146, and 145. If they say yes, tell them you're with us and need to unpack your car. They'll let you through. If they say no, pull back out to the parking lot and wait for us to arrive! Check out the map to get an idea of the layout.

What else to expect:
We are allowed one car per campsite, four cars total. All other cars need to park in visitor parking for the duration of the trip. You are free to walk over to your car and drive it out of the park, but when you come back you will need to park in visitor parking. Generally, the cars we keep at the sites are the ones full of useful items for us--Shep's pickup truck with firewood in it, or Draak's minivan that can hold food and other items in case of rain.

We are also only allowed two tents per campsite. This means you WILL be bunking up with other campers! We do our best to group campers with friends that they feel comfortable with. If you have a special request, let me know--I can't guarantee I will be able to comply, but I will do my best. Most likely you will NOT be able to sleep in a tent with just yourself, or just yourself and one other person. Sorry, but we have to comply with park rules!

Camp Furst State is a relaxed event with no real programming or scheduled events. Campers spend time fishing, crabbing, swimming in the ocean, exploring the historical sites at Cape Henlopen, driving to nearby Rehoboth to enjoy the boardwalk and beach there, and much more! Cape Henlopen State Park has bath houses with showers and toilets, and washers and dryers if you need them. The beach is within walking distance. You can read more about the campsite here.

Fursuits are allowed on mainstreet and inside the movie theater at all times. Feel free to dress as you like. The theater is typically cooled well enough for suiting if you feel up for it.

How to contribute: Honestly all I ask is that you stop by and enjoy yourself but if you want to go the extra mile, here's a few things you can do. You could bring food, bring a drink or even bring some hot tunes that you'll think will get people on their feet. Alcohol wise is pretty much BYOB unless you're willing to share the love of course.

Crash space: Anyone is welcomed to crash as long as there's space left but locals should keep in mind that people coming from out of state get first dibs on crashing privileges. Its always better to let me know too just so I can better accommodate you. Worst comes to worst there is a hotel behind my house which I honestly keep forgetting about.

Dead Dog Dinner: And for those of you who do spend the night and aren't ready to go home yet, I'll be talking you to Dino BBQ up in Harlem where they have some awesome food for a great price.

We've been doing the Hibachi meets for nine months now, and while the restaurant is good, I think we are all getting a little sick of it! I'm trying to think of other eateries we could check out. I am also looking at changing the frequency of the meet.

What would you like to see? I've added a poll with different places we could try, please cast your votes! Also comment on what you think the frequency of the meet should be. I made it weekly because I figured people could drop in whenever they wanted to; weekly is often enough for people who are interested to come once a month (or more if they'd like to). Unfortunately, it seems like if I don't go, no one goes! I don't want it to be like that, it's a dinner meet that requires no leader, and I can't always make it every week. So decreasing the frequency might be a good idea if this trend continues!

Anyway, let me know what you think.

Leaving a little memo that I have space available for one (and only one) at the Westin Pittsburgh for Anthrocon. As of now there are three people in my room. We can afford to go with just three but splitting costs a fourth way would help greatly. We're arriving on Tuesday and leaving Monday morning, but you only have to pay for the days you're in the room (max of $225). Pro-rated and all that. Also note that I CANNOT and will not give you a ride. Our cars will be filled to the brim with stuff.

Greetings all. Just moved here from California. Was mildly active with the Bay Area Furries and was pleasantly surprised when I found a local fur group here as well. I moved here with my girlfriend for her work and was lucky enough to find work at a local winery so I could stay in the industry I love. I'm in to cars, motorcycles, guns and weapons of all sorts, and video games (mostly Xbox). Given the industry I work in, I'm also into fine wines and spirits as well as cigars. I'm looking forward to coming to some of the local furmeets and fur bowling and, of course, meeting the local wildlife.
