Pittsburgh has all the fun and east PA misses out.  Well, we'll show them!  Just because they have Anthrocon doesn't mean us Philly folks can't have a good time far away from those weirdo Pittsburgh people!  (Sarcasm.  Of course all are welcome. People from Pittsburgh are not weirdos.  Well... some are...)

So let's get together eastern PA!  This is an official brainstorming thread for who, what, when, where, and how.  Toss out any ideas you've got, please.  There are no wrong answers or bad ideas, so just say whatever comes to mind.

I live near Allentown so Dorney Park is a natural choice for me when the weather warms up. I have a vehicle that seats six so I could take 5 people places and if other peope are driving and willing we can also carpool to Six Flags or somewhere.  Luna Park.

I have an extensive movie collection if we want to maybe rent out one of those old, hole-in-the-wall, type movie theatres and have our own movie night.  I know of at least one willing to do so.  I'll see if I can get a price quote.

I love the board game idea by CrayolaPup, I'm just sad I missed it.

We could do card games.  Poker night!

Laser Tag, Bowling, Roller skating, Go karts, indoor fun center of some kind.

Dave 'n Busters, the adult version of Chuck E Cheese's.

Some other restaurant.  Hibachi?  Steakhouse?  Indian?

Blue Mountain skiing/snowboarding/tubing because we're stuck with the snow and might as well enjoy it.  Doesn't have to be Blue Mountain either.

We could go have a hotel party, rent two adjoining rooms or one suite or something and do just about anything within reason.

Concert if we can all agree on music.

LAN party for us nerds.

Casino for us 21 and over.

Stonewall Moose Bar and Lounge is a gay club in Allentown where all are welcome, and 18-21 people can get in any Thursday night for something like $8.  They would totally be okay with suits, but it's super hot/loud/smoke filled, so maybe not the best place to suit, but super fun anyway if you're into drag shows and dancing.

So many things to do in Philly, plenty to do in Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton.

Shall we time this around some sort of holiday?  Just pick a weekend?  What do you think would be fun?  Where do you think a fun place to go might be?  How much cashmoney are you willing to spend on a fun night or weekend?  Do you have a vehicle and are willing to help those transportationally challenged?

Keep the ball rolling! Tell us your ideas!  We must make this happen!  My hopes are that the interest will be high enough to make this a regular event so please prove me right.  Please please please please.

Promoted to the Front Page!

And by all means, you Philly and Eastern PA furs should be having as much fun as we are West of the Allegheny's.  I was half expecting that you all are using other means to communicate, but this is still the PA Furry Forums and not the Western PA Furry Forums.

Please feel free to join in and utilize this site as it was intended and make some noise! Smile

Please throw out any ideas you can think of, if there's enough attention for any idea then we can start to formulate a plan.

I'm in eastern PA too and near Allentown!  I think Dorney Park would be fun, but it seems like a lot of people who posted here are now inactive. ;-;

Hello Arkin!

Glad to see there's still some interest going on over here.  I certainly have been just a bit inactive, months have a tendancy to fly by for me.  I'm mostly distracted by that handsome wolf in the 5th post named deej... it's all his fault... he made me do it, officer... *points the finger and runs away*

I've still got all weekends off, and many of them available minus the second weekend in June, and the first two weekends in July, and if we can get a small group to coordinate on one of those weekends I would love to have a meet at Dorney, and would likely be able to organize carpooling.

Dorney Park has hereby been proposed as the first official meet of the "Eastern PA Rules and Western PA Drools Club" (Name currently under revision)  Can I get any furs to second this motion?

*begins PMing the other posters in this thread*

The motion is hereby seconded.  Thank you Arkin.

CrayolaPup has expressed interest in going on a Sunday, sometime after AC and may be able to bring a plus one.  Sunday is also an ideal day for me as well, as is that time of the summer.  What is the likelihood that we all can be available on a Sunday after July 12th?  Furthermore, is there a greater interest in the mechanical fun or the aquatic variety?  I'd like to coordinate doing both parks, time being our limited resource.  Crayola has also recommended the nearby White Castle as a potential source of food.  Are there any objections?

Pardon me everyone if I may throw in a suggestion. Though I live in Lebanon County, one thing I think might be great for some Eastern Furs would be something like Hershey Park. I usually go there once or twice a year and live within a 30 minute drive of the place so it wouldn't be too bad. Though if anyone has fursuits I'm not sure how they'd feel about that, they might try to tranq you since the zoo is literally right next door and connected via bridge, lol JK. I think they'd be fine with it, not entirely sure though. Hershey is a quiet little area, it feels like paradise just smelling the chocolate in the air X3

There is also the PA Renn Faire which I literally live like 5 minutes away from. Those being the only 2 thoughts I could come up with for Easterners. I know it's not really on topic but I thought I'd throw out some ideas there  Winking

I can make it for Sunday!

Also Hershey is a bit far for me (a little over an hour) and don't really have money for it, HOWEVER...  I did really wanna go this year so I may be interested if you do that. :3  Also I reeeeeeeeeeeally wanna go to the Renn Faire so I would be up for that!

On an off note, if anyone does have fursuits would we be wearing them to Dorney?  I think I would only wear my tail since we'd be going on roller coasters and such.

I do enjoy the Renn Faire quite a bundle and on top of that I will be recieving my fursuit next year so if I plan something there I'll go in my fursuit ^_^

If anything though I'll think on it around August (not this year but more than likely next since I SHOULD have my suit by then) just so that way it's not ridiculously hot.

This'll be fun. :3

Also, since the Dorney meet is planned for July, would anyone be interested in just doing a meet maybe at the Lehigh Valley Mall sooner and then we can wear our fursuits (if you guys have them)?  It could be like a furmeet then :3

@RadiantWingedDragon  Please and thank you for throwing in suggestions!  I LOVE the Ren Faire!!  Hershey park is wonderful too.  Both fine ideas, I appreciate the contribution.  I too live next to a chocolate factory, Blommer, and thoroughly enjoy the brownie smell that they make.  I spent two years of my life living in Middletown, just outside of Harrisburg and within view of Three Mile Island.  I've got a special place in my heart for central PA.  (Central imo at least)

@Arkin  I could provide reasonably priced taxi service if we get a group going to Hershey or the Faire, if you're okay riding in a car with a creepy internet stranger  Happy anime tongue   Also, the mid-July date is not set in stone.  I apologize if it appeared to be.  I was simply trying to afford the most people the most amount of planning time and flexibility.  It was also the first date which was suggested to me.  I happen to be available June 2nd, let me double check my budget and see if I can find admission fee money.  In the other thread you've started, I'm wondering, how many friends? Just trying to get an idea of the number of people going.  If they are friends with you, I assume they're at least fur-friendly.  Am I correct?

As for suiting in any location, it's a moot point for me, as I have not even a tail with which to properly express myself.

@Jesha: That would be awesome if you could come!  Yeah, they're my friends from my art class, I doubt they'd have a problem with furs.  So far for that it's me and two, possibly three others.  There may be more coming, I dunno.  And once I've met you guys I woulnd't mind driving around with you lol.  Also online for the day it should be $30-$35 or something like that...  I saw somewhere something about a $14 off discount, not exactly sure for wha though.  Also we'll be meeting there at 12 PM, or if you wanna carpool with us it'll be at LCCC at 11 AM.

I'll be wearing my tail, so yeah. xD  Also if you ever had the materials (like the faux fur) I could always make you a tail!

Further research has now proven that tickets are actually $4 cheaper before July. https://www.dorneypark.com/ticket-category/Daily-Tickets

Has anybody seen coupons involving soda cans or fast food?  You can usually find them on the back of pepsi cans, or at a dunkin donuts.  I know Weis markets has discounts, but they don't seem to be worth it until after June anyway as they're priced at $41 https://www.weismarkets.com/about-weis/community/events/

If by some magic, we can get a whole group of twenty, we'll really save some money.

@Arkin  I had a complete brain fart.  I looked at June 2nd and saw it as a Saturday because "M. A. Y." clearly spells "June" ...  I must decline, as I shall be at my place of employment.  I hope you have lots of fun!  I'll still be able to see you in August at Knobles.

Nothing is official yet.  My top three votes are (in order): Sunday July 19th, Sunday July 26th, and Saturday July 25th.  Those are also apparently likely days for CrayolaPup to be available.  I haven't heard back from either Elious or AlphaWolfPup.  I know deej doesn't know if he has weekends off in advance.  I think if we can get at least 3 people committed to a time, we could call it the official one.

Awesome!  In that case I think we should make the 19th the official date and then the 26th the rain date.  The events calendar shows nothing on the 19th and Confluence on the 26th, so I think we're not clashing with any events.  I'll try to bring deej, but he has to work unexpected weekends sometimes.

Crayola, I'd take you up on that carpool offer, but I don't actually live near you lol.  I can, however, find you the cheapest gas station around to fill your tank while you're up near the cheaper gas.  4th street in Allentown has a Gulf and a Speedway which are perpetually less expensive than the surrounding area.

Arkin had mentioned meeting up at the mall beforehand too.  My vehicle legally holds six, so if we want to all merge cars, we can save on parking at dorney and safely leave the other cars at the mall for free.

The time hasn't been set yet, I believe the park opens at 10, and if memory serves, it's a pain in the behind to get into it at that time.  Do we want to get to the gates at 11 after the initial crowd has died down?  Whatever the time, I think we should definitely meet somewhere and all take one car if possible.  I know I suggested the mall, but I think the trexlertown walmart is probably a better option as it's not on the other side of Allentown.  People coming up from philly, is this a reasonable timeframe, or shall we meet later in the day?

WindishFox, I'd love to be there, but unfortunately, I really can't go to a bar unless I've got some specific friends around me, and I don't want to commit to an event that I'm not sure these people can be at with me.  Thanks for the reminder though.  I wish anyone who is going a wonderful time Big grin

Just checked the time and it's open 10 AM to 8 PM during the week days and I believe 10 PM on the weekend.  Wherever we meet is fine for me.  There's also the Applebee's, Target, Gamestop, etc (that whole shopping center) on Cedar Crest blvd and I think it's only like 10 minutes from Dorney.  But whererever is fine for me.  Trexlortown would be fine as well.

@WindishFox   I hear CrayolaPup would be able to give you a ride if you can get to his place and are willing to split gas.

@Arkin  I suppose the Target works as well. I doubt that Applebees or Game Stop would appreciate a car in their lot all day without purchase.  I'm looking for parking where nobody notices your car is there lol.  I think both lots may be about the same distance.  Isn't the Wegmans near dorney too?  I have no real preference.  Is there a reason Target is better for you?

Heeeey guuuyyyyys. Brand new to the site x3

I would just like to say that if we had a furry day at Hershey Park we could officially call it Furshey Park which would be so pun-tastic everyone would love it.

Dave & Busters would also be a fantastic place for furries, though expensive. Some free options would not go amiss. What could we do that wouldn't cost anyone substantial entry costs?

Also if anyone lives in Philly and wants to hang sometime... hmu >.>

@Jesha: It may be a little closer for me, but I'm fine with walmart too.  I just think the parking lot there is bigger because all the stores pretty much share the whole parking lot.  I used to work at Applebee's so if we wanted to go there after or something, depending on the server, I could probably get us free drinks (not food though).  Also do we need to sign up for anything for this?  On an off note, I found out how to get into dorney for free. Tongue

@Drayne: I hear you on the free stuff, I'm always up for that.

If we do go to "FUR"sheypark they won't like people wearing a fursuit or anything that would cover a person's head, and because of the chance of falling over stuff and people. I think it's a safety thing which I could understand. Maybe just wear a tail since you're not hurting anyone or breaking any laws.

I'd like to put ears and a fluffy tail on the Hershey characters.  Generic smiley face

Yeah... I would think Hershey Park looks down on fursuiting as much as the peeps from Knoebels, I'd know because I have friends that work up there.

In the next couple of months though if I schedule something on here for the furs with the Renn Faire though they DEFINITELY allow fursuiting, I know a couple people who go in suit a lot.

Welcome to the site Drayne!!  I hope you go make an intro post and tell us more about yourself. I love the character.  Jesha's a mexican/european wolf.  That is, if I could draw lol.

I happen to be a sucker for puns, I'd be giggling the whole time we're there.  I'm totally up for a Furshey Park meet, we just have to coordinate it all like we are doing with the upcoming Dorney meet.  I'm also okay with carpooling to the land of chocolate if people need rides.

My family has a saying, "If it's free, it's for me!"  of course, then again, there is an unhealthy amount of hoarding that goes on...

Please everyone suggest free and low cost events, places, ideas.  I'll list some myself after some thought and research.  I'm all about saving money.

@Arkin: I didn't make any sign up sheet of any kind...  I suppose a Surple couldn't hurt though.  And while I'm at it, let me post it on the calendar here.  How exactly are we getting in for free?  Legally? lol  I do have family memebers that work there, I suppose I should talk to them about discounts too.

@Regulus:  I'm so down for the faire! just as long as it's a weekend lol.  I'm about to start a new job and I doubt I can take off on a weekday so soon.

Everyone going to Dorney: Is 10:30 a reasonable meeting time for all?  That way we get into the park at 11 and avoid the initial line in.  I'm planning on staying in the park until closing, which should be at 10PM.  Is there anyone that needs to leave earlier than that?

Is everyone taking care of their own meals?  We could coordinate eating before or after the park as well.

x3 thank you so much Jesha! You're the first person -ever- to compliment me on my mix. Most people think its weird that I would think in such detail the genetics of my character, but I find it fascinating! Father is pure grey wolf, mother is 50% mexi (maternal grandmother) and 50% red wolf (maternal grandfather). I think character families and histories are two things frequently overlooked despite how interesting they can be.

I'm still trying to figure this site out (how to post stuff, etc O.o) but soon as I do I'll make an intro and submit an idea I had.

Have any furries ever done a trip to Wolf Sanctuary PA? As a wolf furry I think it'd be awesome to have a meet out here for one of their full moon tours. It's $12 per person and includes bonfire + smores, enjoying the outside, and seeing/learning stuff about wolves. If enough people were interested I could call and ask how they'd feel about fursuits, so we know if that's an option or not.

@Jesha: welllllllll...basically you have someone or a few people go in for say maybe 30 mins and then come out, get the stamp, and then if you wet it a little, you can put it on the other person's hand lol.

Also I have a season pass which I found out, we'll get free parking and there's I think...a 20% discount on food, so if we wanted something there then we could just use my season pass for a discount lol.  Or if we leave after 9 applebee's has half off appatizers.  And 10:30 works fine for me.  Do we have an official meeting place yet?

@Drayne: I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO GO THERE FOR LIKE 8 YEARS BRO WE GOTTA MAKE A TRIP
