Chat window now available in sidebar
- Access to all of our posts and comments
- Your own profile including an avatar, buddy lists, and other social networking features
- The ability to send private messages to other users on this site
- The ability to chat and interact with other furries in and around Pennsylvania.
(Not a furry fan? That's cool. You're still welcome here.)
As users of this site might have noticed, I now have the chatroom available in the right sidebar of all the pages here. For those of you reading this who aren't users, I have a screenshot off to the right.
For those of you who are programmers, I released the PHP code that I used to create the block. It can be found at http://gist.github.com/546688.
Now, the next question is: "Where do we go from here?" While the chat room is certainly seeing some use, I don't know if having it appear on every page is the best idea. I can certainly see how it might become annoying to see the chat window filled on every single page load.
Right now, the chat window can be turned off entirely by editing your settings and checking the "Block Configuration" section. But that may not be the best solution either.
Perhaps I should just show the chat window on certain pages. Maybe there's something else entirely that I could do.
Your thoughts, both pro and con would be appreciated.
