well, last year, duke university came to my school and offered the top 3 percentile of students a chance to take the SAT preemptivley(not the PSAT, the real actual SAT). i took it, and got a ridiculously high score(1760-something, i fink >_^) and duke sent me a DNA testing kit in the mail cuz they wanted to see what made me so smart Tongue, so, it turns out i got, like, the third or second highest score in the program, so i got invited to the duke grand and state recognition. et cetera, et cetera.

so, ever since then, i've been getting scholarship offers from various collages (WOO!) and the latest one is from portsmouth abbey scool, wherever the heck that is. it's a flipping catholic boarding school. what the heck?!?! ha, anyway, i got a chuckle out of that.

Yeah colleges love recruiting people, even if they are nothing you've ever heard of. Recruiting people like you is what gives them a name Tongue

I'm pretty sure you didn't get a 1760, since scores range between 20 and 80.

Maybe they said, "If you took an SAT, this is the score you would have gotten".

Still, that's very good news, and very much front page worthy. Definitely check into those offers. A free education is a good education, and at your age, there's no such thing as too much education and experience.

really? hardly front page worthy, but okay...just slapped it up here for the purpose of blogging. this place is sorta like facebook #2 for me. i made the mistake of friending my mother on facebook, so i'm not exactly free to express my opinions there...

i don't think i'm going to take the offer.

pros

  1. don't have to take out the trash/unload dishwasher etc.
  2. free food 'n' stuff
  3. get to be away from my family

cons

  1. only so many times i can say "hail mary" in a day
  2. it's a flipping boarding school
  3. have to tell EVERYTHING about my life to some dude in a shady box
  4. it's a flipping boarding school
  5. untold religious strictness
  6. IT'S A FLIPPING BOARDING SCHOOL. i consider myself somewhat of a free spirit, at least enough that i value my free time higher than my grades sometimes. plus, in an atmosphere away from my parents, no telling what i'll do.

soooo...the cons sorta outway the pros.

Don't be so critical of catholic schooling. While a pain, it also helped me to be a better person. There is some things you can not learn in public schooling.

Confessing is not telling your life story unless you want to.

Yeah you would be a handful for them as well.

I think it could be good for you, but if you fight it the whole way you missed the point so there is no sense in going.

Third option: it was one of those condescending chauvinistic men who call all females "hon" - and he thought you were a girl.

i'd not considered that, but i'm still ridiculously in the dark as to how i(not exactly the most masculine person on the planet, but not the fruitiest either) could be misconstrued as a dudette.

as it turns out, des is actually a dudette. which is odd, i thought she was a dude at first...i suppose the icon's a little ambiguous.

I was going to say the same thing. I too thought for quite a while that Prokadae was a chick, then I realized I was confusing him with Morbyd (their icons look similar and they joined around the same time.)

But I'm like you, I don't really care what gender a person is. Only time I would have any interest in what gender someone is would be if I were planning to date them, and since I'm already mated for life that is a moot point.

I guessed Forzii was Male, Because I think he's male in real life, So I wouls assume he would pick them same sex for his Fursona, But that's probably a bit rude.

Plus thay Cleavage looks more like a tuff of Fur to me, Because of a little flick in it.

i think forzii's a she, because in my experience shes tend to be more prone to the level of introvertity forzii exhibits. or used to exhibit...? still a little interested/confuzzled about that...

and she tends to write in bright pink, which is not usual for dudes.

hmmmm...*squintiness* maybe...that reminds me, a friend of mine(he has the awesomest name ever, his middle name's mckinze, so we call him zee[that's what he puts on all his papers, too]) has a shirt that's sorta between pink and red, so everytime he wears it we have this big discussion about what colour it is. today i whipped out the crayons and selected pink, red, and red violet. instead of ending the (pointless, but not violent) arguement, it turns out i just added a new group Tongue. zee tried to settle it himself, too, saying "don't be silly. anyone can see this shirt is purple." which got plenty of chuckles...

a couple seconds later, i've decided that colour is neither pink nor purple, but magenta-ish. not quite magenta, but magenta-ish.

and i'm still sort of confuzzled. are you a he or a she? Puzzled

at this point, i'd put a socially awkward penguin thingy here, but i can't find one that fits the situation. sooo...

being introverted and writing in pink (or purple for that matter) are girl traits?

Holy gender-role stereotypes, Bat-boy!!!

On a side note, I was reading that until about 60 or so years ago, Pink was the "boy" color because it is like red which was seen as virile and manly, while blue was the "girl" color because it was seen as pure and demure (think of Cinderella's blue dress in the Disney movie, or all the depictions of the Virgin Mary wearing blue.)

i stereotype people based on their -hair- sometimes. i stereotype all the time, however, like most things, i take it lightly, and don't stick to my guns if said stereotypes are proven wrong. but if there's nothing else to go on in determining a fact about something or someone, i base it on past experiences and consider it correct until proven otherwise.

so yes, i'm a stereotyping bum Tongue

Yeah, I'm taking it lightly too. I know sometimes that doesn't come across in typed posts so I'm just letting you know so you don't think I'm hounding you.

Plus I just wanted to take advantage of the chance to say, "holy (whatever) Bat boy" to you. Since you are a bat and all.

But it is interesting how programmed we are in our society to pretty much HAVE to know if someone is male or female because we can't decide how to relate to them/treat them until we know. So it's funny in real life when you have someone who is really androgynous to the point where you actually can't tell if they are male or female. Throws people into a tizzy. Like that old SNL skit about "Pat" and the silly schemes the people came up with to try to figure out if Pat was male or female.

In the end, males and females are really more alike than not though. A good novel exploring the subject is "The Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula K. LeGuin.

There is a reason i tend to avoid giving out my gender, too many people decided they hate me cause of it though so i put it on a few profiles. However, i prefer people to treat me like me than like a gender stereotype >.>... though i admit most furs, and even surprisingly many people in general, dun care that much.

Heh, I suppose that is rather tempting...I've yet to hear any quips about being a hybrid of two nocturnal creatures, which was my primary concern in choosing it as my fursona...

And I think people have/want to know because in addition to getting pronouns sorted out, gender can be a personality trait as much as a biological characteristic, so just as you would have a different conversation with an intelligent person than you would with a not-so-intelligent person, you can have a different conversation with a dude than a dudette. Except, unlike intelligence or degree of athleticism or somesuch, gender is mostly a yes-or-no question and can be identified at a glance in most situations.

Last night in the chat bar, there was a [long for me/short for everyone else] conversation concerning the secrecy and misdirection(or, as drage put it, non-direction) about forzii's gender, and through my frustration I came to the (possibly wrong) conclusion that it's a she. I furthermore supported my conclusion with drage's own signature: when he declares himself "master of forzii" or whatever it reads, I assumed this indicates something deeper than friendship between the two, possibly being a pet-name from a previous relationship. Of course, this is all considerable guess and check stimulated by occ.'s razor, soooooo...I dunno lol. '\_o-O_/'

Oh, bummer I missed it, sounds like a good conversation.

You indicate that you treat people differently based on their gender (or what you perceive their gender to be.) That would be precisely why some people may not want to openly announce their gender - because then they get pushed into pigeonholes and treated a certain way because of it. Like what I mentioned about about how it drives people crazy when they can't pin a gender on someone - 'cause they don't know how to act around someone until they can put them in a particular slot and then treat them a certain way based on that.

And, gender is not so black and white. You've got people who have genetically one gender but physically another, people with genetically and physically one gender but mentally another, and then you've got people who are born intersex too (used to be called "hermaphrodite" and doctors used to push parents to have surgery done at birth to make the child clearly one gender or the other - which was often quite disastrous; they are finding it is best to let the child grow up and decide what to do with his/her OWN genitals - what a concept, that one can own one's OWN genitals, huh? - a concept which is sadly all to often dismisses as parents seem to think they own their babies' bodies and can cut them up as they please... but I digress.) Gender is partly physical but is mostly a social construction. More power to people who choose to live without that particular social construction.

And lastly, there's another hole in your logic. You assume that because Drage is male, and it seems he has a mate-type relationship with Forzii, then therefore Forzii must be female. Ummmmm, ever hear of this thing called "homosexuality"? 'Cause you've got gender, and then you've got sexual orientation - which is a whole other thing. So we may never know Forzii's gender. And do we really need to anyway??

(But regardless of Forzii's gender, and Forzii's fursona's gender, that shading or fur tuft on the picture really REALLY looks like cleavage!)

And I would like to ask one thing, It about being "Master of Forzii." I have asked a little bit about that, And bother them two about it, Because I was confused what they mean about it, And I discovered a bit of their lives, In which I am keeping quiet about it, And I think it's a bit of a Dominate thing with Drage, Like an Alpha over Forzii, And I would like to add, About the homosexuality thing, It's probably because being Straight is seemed as a defult Sexuality, Because, I think it's a bit to do with the bible, Or holy books, Saying that being "Gay" isn't really something that's smiled on in it, And maybe because of the "Making a Family" thing, Being that there must be a Male and Female partners to have child, Or maybe because of Animals not normally being gay, But I have seen my Gerbels (Both female.) Doing "Things" I shouldn't mention, And I know that two Male dogs can have a type of "Gay" interaction together, Do that is known to show there Masclinaty. (Maleness.)

So, I think it's a bit of a range of problems, Why we first think that Only male couples are thought to be one female if one says they have a partner, Without see them first.

"Or holy books, Saying that being "Gay" isn't really something that's smiled on in it"

It is assumed by MORONS that Sodom was was wiped out by God because the citizens were gay.  Puzzled

There is no direct mention of homosexuality in any bible as i know.

Sodom Was more likely a place where people had zero morals, to the point of the whole town would gather and rape any strangers that came into town.

In general

Learning to respect others furs/people and there right to not tell you everything about them. Might be a good idea.

If your RPing or dating id say other wise.

Deut 22:5

A woman shall not wear a man’s apparel, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment; for whoever does such things is abhorrent to the Lord your God.

Old testament "Figures" I found a whole page of interpretation from different scholars. From the different comments it was not a cross dressing thing, but more of someones idealistic add on.

Ten commandments nor Jesus teachings never covered anything like this.

I try to live by these two

You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, with your whole soul, and with all your mind.

You shall love your neighbour as yourself, or treat others as you would like to be treated.

I came dangerously close to considering that the reason for Forzii's concealment was because he/she was a hermaphrodite, but considered that until I had more evidence to support this theory, i should dismiss it for fear of offending her/him. the same goes for the question of drage's sexual orientation: better to assume he's straight and consider he's gay, because in my (admitedly limited) experience, homosexuals accidently considered straight take it lighter than heterosexuals who are accidently considered gay. In addition, both of your hypothetical situations are at least somewhat more complicated than mine, and because I was reasoning with the aid of occam's razor, I ruled them out for the purpose of the exercise.
