Babybat made me an awesome picture, and i wanted to stick it up as my profile pic, so after i found the doodad that lets me do that, it turns out it wouldnt let me press the upload button. So i think "i get it, i already have a profile pic so it wont let me upload a new one." so i delete my old pic, and it still wont let me upload my new picture. I'm in a bum position now |

Touche.
Go questioning about, where I don't know. See if anyone else has ever had a similar issue.
I always have a problem when I want to change my picture. I delete the old one and upload a new one, but then the old one is still there! However, if I log out and then come back the next day it is usually right. I guess the little gremlins that live in the machine need some time to make the switch complete
I saw the picture on the other thread, it's great!
Well, I say feel free to ask Giza, It's his choice to help you or not, And heck, He did the most self-less thing for me, Being he kindly told me about LondonFurs, Now I am a known member and aving the time o fmy life down there too.
*Alowl smiles.*
I am sure he can help with a technical problem.
part of me wants to ask giza if he can help me get my picture back, but i'm fairly certain it's not possible/rather difficult, and i dont want to take advantage of him...
Giza is a nice cat, do not let the bald em sorry 'shaved' head and the obsession with dolph the fascist hippo fool you. (google image dolph the facist hippo and the top three images are from his sites) Just send him a private message whith what your problem is and I am sure he will try to help you.
Ahem.
I'm catching up on old messages here. Is this still an issue? If so, send me a PM!
lol alright =3= but you and me know what the ture cause of it was though
Well.
*Alowl swifts his eyes.*
I was blonde once, Being I was blonde then I was 3 years old, Then you can guess what happened. Dark Brown and strangle Black Eyebrows.
Wait! Black Eyebrows! *Alowl quickly ran to a mirror and checks then come back.* And so it's true.
But Have you been blonde though out you life Prokadae? Or turned blonde?
Yes, ive been blonde my whole life. I used to be super duper ridiculous blonde, back when i was a munchkin. I think it's impossible to naturally become blonde, because blonde is the fairest hair colour. In the same manner tanning makes your skin darker, UV rays can only make your hair darker, not lighter. I think...
I still have some of my baby blonde along my hairline, but its covered by my bangs, thank goodness.
Well, Me becoming brown was a bit more genetic, Being my Brother did the same and my sister is turning Strawberry Blonde.
Yet I have a strange confession too, Being my mom was Brown and my Dad was ginger. And no one in my family tree was ever Blonde, I guess it's a gene thing.
But I think turning naturely blonde is possible, As for bleaching your skin to go pale, You have to be in the dark all the time, As for hair color, It changes a bit from what I know, Being it could bleach too, Or have the opposite affect, And light ligth usually bleaches the hair too. But it would take years to do so.
And you have Bangs? I thought your hair was short.
(My mom cut my bands away, Not I have hair that pokes my eyes again. *Alowl pouts.*)
I think i read somewhere that everyone has at least three mutations in their genome, so its possible your deviant haircolour is just one of your mutations.
I sort of have bangs, in that my hair drops down about an inch below my hairline.
I'm a little attached to my hair as a whole, i hate haircuts because i like having long hair. That being said, it's a cruel twist of fate that my sister works at a hair salon and we get discount hair cuts.
Arh, You are mistaken with the thrid mutation idea, Being that is impossible because you get one strand of DNA from your father and mother, Which has a random code of genes that both your parents have. And one of those genes are turned on, The other is turned off, Because one gene is a dominate gene, So the other is classed as inactive because of them being the submissive gene. And the Submissive gene can't be active unless there are two Submissive genes, In which the genes are active.
I think I can explain it as, If you have two pennys, Both fair. And lets say Heads on the coin was the dominate side, If you flip the coins, And both of them landed on heads, Then the heads would be Dominate and so Tails would be inactive. Same for the one head and one tails chance of tossing the coins, But if it lands on both Tails, Then tails does have a dominate gene to become inactive, And so is activated.
Now think in the coin's sides being Heads for Green eyes, Then Blue for tails. Flip the coins and if Heads shows up at anytime, Your eyes would be green, If not, Then they are Blue. So that happening is a 25% chance of that happening.
And it is possible to have a genetic illness pass on for genrations without it being detected. Then BANG! Your great great great great grandson has Hunters disease. And what happen to a few people too these days, Like my height, My great Grandfather gave me the tall gene and it got me about 6 foot 2 inches, And twices the size of everyone as a child.
But I yet have to learn about two Submissive genes like Brown hair and Blonde hair, Being what will it be? A one genes a bit more dominate than the other? Or is it more like what happened to me with the Nature darkening of my hair color?
As for your bang Prokadae, Try and give it some time and see if you can't get your sister to style your hair to grow into a bang? Because they same happened to me, My mom cut 3 inches off my hair and I hated it. Luckily the way she cut it has made it grow into a bang and is beginnign to get it's nature curle back. Where is grows round my glasses.
Well, yeah, i know how genetics work, but there's plenty of room for error. Dont ask me how but not every genetic split is perfect. If a single error is made during the embryo stage the error can be duplicated and magnified. Thats more or less how darwinian matural selection works: a mutation occurs that causes evolutionary favoritism, et cetera et cetera.
And before somebody gets at me for being a christian and beleiving in evolution, i dont beleive in evolution, just natural selection. And i dunno where fossils come from, so shush.
Well, Actually, Will all gene parts being perfect, That's not true, Being that your saying that there is someone that can be prefectly genetically made. Which is very wrong, Being that all humans and all animal and Plants all have the slight Genetic disorder. Like if you look at the Human brain. Everyone in the world has some Autistic behaviour of some sort, Which is down to genetics and how the brain is formed because of the genetics od bothe the Mother and Father's genes, Which is a bit like how tall you will be, from you being very short because of the build up of each genes being dominate and having the ability to have you height to be short, And then the same with being tall is down to genetics and the dominate genes having the abilities.
But then again you could be talking about the common combination of the human struction of all 4 limps, organs and features apon the skin. But that could depend on the conditions in the womb where if the mother smokes, Drinks alcohol or takes drugs can also affect the way the baby develops, Like the brain making them mentally challenged. Or even deforming the growth of limps. And a big one for morning sickness pills, Which they was a famous one that deformed the body of babies and even moving them about also, Like when I was back in primary school, A teach told us about this and she met a boy that had a full functioning hand on his shoulder. So it's not all down to genetics where the baby forms.
And as for you being a christian and believing in nature selection is 100% up to you. And it makes sence in a way too. Being that Evolution doesn't really exist anymore too, Being in order for evolution to continue onwards. We must turn back to our roots of Survival of the fittest. Which would mean the weaker people of our human race would have to die and the people that are stronger fitter, Healthier and smarter would live and then being able to reproduce and then give if a few million years, We could end up being completely different where all Humans could be powerful and strong enough to break trees down and smart enough to guess where a stick would land if we throw is for miles. But I think for that to happen is quite unfair and I would strongly disagree with it also, Bing eveyone should have the right to live.
As for Fossils, That's an easy one, It's something that has been crushed inbetween two rocks and the something has left an impression in the rocks. And hey, You have a fossil. And a good one is the one that was tranported to the Science Museam in England London, Which is called Eva I think, And we so prefectly preserved, We could see the last thing it ate. And the original was displayed in pulbic for ONE DAY ONLY! No there's a replica in it's place. And it's a piece of the evolution of the human race also.
Whoa! you guys are getting really deep. I'm not even gonna touch that with a ten-foot pole!
But I did want to point out two things.
1- UV rays darken your skin because they stimulate your skin to produce melanin. On the other hand, UV rays LIGHTEN your hair, because hair, once it is beyond the follicle matrix, is dead and so it would have no way of making more pigment, and the pigment that is there fades just like fabric or colored paper fade in the sun. Also, it is very common for children to have very light hair that gets darker as they get older, which is nothing to do with the sun but rather to how much pigment they are making in the follicle.
2- you have the right idea as far as how the "dominant/recesive" thing works. However, with skin, hair, and eye color, the trait is carried on many loci, so rather than simply having black or white skin, or black or white hair, instead there are thousands and thousands of shades in between, because of all the different combinations.
I know how they're formed, they just dont fit in with the christian creation story. According to the bible, the world was made in six days and such, but there is no mention of dinosaurs, or prehistoric creatures, or their death and eventual fossilization. Yet they're still there, in the ground.
It reminds me somewhat of an isaac asimov short story, called "reason", set on a solar power station orbiting the sun, about a robot who creates a cult based on what he can see and butts heads with a pair of scientists who attempt to shake his faith based on what they know. Whenpresented withsome of the evidence against his cult, the robot dismisses the evidence as something his god does not need him to know, despite the fact that it fits neatly into the scientists' explanations. In the same way, i suppose i have to wait until the answer to these questions is presented to me, as frustrating as it may be to a hypothetical athiest trying to make me see by their logic.
With Zelda, I had to study about genetics while being in Fast track science class, Being I had to learn super advanced science in class and understand why it worked, Which this subject is a strong point for me.
But I didn't know about the melanin and about the hair follicle matrix too, That was something I wasn't taught.
And with the second idea too, I am very supprized too, I forgot about the diffirent shades of hair color. *Alowl facepaws.*
And Prokade, That was the biggy for me when I heard about the bible, Being that the bible has a few loop holes and I can gladdly say I can poked big holes in the Bibles logic, in terms of the stories, As for the teaches, Not a problem, Except the ranting about God is the almighty, You must worship him and you will go to Heaven.
And I thought: Wait! Why should we? Heaven is paradise? Wouldn't paradise get boring after a while? Like if you when to Spain for instance. You had a lovely White sand beach, A cool little drink for you to get confortable in, While sitting in a deck chair. And now think of that day in day out, Wouldn't that get the tinyest bit boring? Being you are noticing how prefect every thing is too?
But I also thought, If you are in heaven, What is there to life for? Wouldn't you start to become a bit lazy? Sitting all the time enjoying yourself? And Hell seems a bit harsh too, Say like myself, I am always good and care for others, Try and be polite when I can and alway try and be good, But because I was good my entire life, And I thought God seemed to me to be a made up person, I will burn for all forever?
Which is athist, but by saying that I am not saying that Christianity is wrong, I am just saying I don't get it, Because it seems like everything doesn't really work or fit together to me. And the idea of one being/spirt created everything. And I am thinking more logical with creating form what I know my own idea on how matter was created. But believe what you want to believe, I have no right in changing it. No one does.
I've pondered that as well. At one point i considered it would be difficult to write a book set in heaven because the good guy vs. Bad guy setup doesnt work when there is no bad guy. The bible says we will praise god forever, which sounds sorta boring after awhile, if every day is sunday, but when you think into it it gets good: praising can be put into musical form, and any kind of music can be adapted to worship. So, when you have all those dead classical composers and dead christian DJs and everything in between in one big eternal musical think tank, things are bound to get interesting. Sitting on a beach sipping sprite remix for all eternity doesnt exactly sound like what i want to do forever either, but sitting on a beach sipping sprite remix while listening to an elvis record remixed by beethoven, among other things, is a different story. And keeping in tune with the cliche "all your wildest dreams will come true in heaven" gig, all those thought expirements will finally be able to be fleshed out.
Plus we'll have a front row seat to the end of the world
That other thing, though, the major point you raise in these kinds of topics about good people going to hell, that is rather difficult and saddening. The fact is that even serial lillers can be nice people with families and children. But they still have to be brought to justice. Because god is perfect he must be just, and because his standard is perfection he must bring all sin to justice. That was the purpose of the messiah in the first place: to give the world a scapegoat, because god is merciful. God cant just forgive everyone's sins. Contrary to popular beleif, he is not omnipotent. Therefore he gave the world a slice of his own perfection, who then took the world's sins upon himself so nice people who sin wont go to hell.
NOTE: all this is from the bible. I'm not trying to force my beleifs on
anybody, this is just what i was taught.

but anyway..... love the picture! Babybat did a great job, and seems you got it posted all right now.
Yes she did, and yes i did.
You say "but anyway" as if it's the end of the discussion. Ha. Dont worry, the day there is a flame war on this sitewithout either party meaning it is the day justin beiber's voice discovers puberty.
*waits for the sudden outbreak of beiber conversation at the mention of his name*
no, no, Prok, I just meant it as in, "but anyway... here's all I have to say on the thread"
I'm not worried about a flame war. I just don't have time to type all my opinions. (I have a lot of opinions.)
Also, really we've been over it all before I believe in the spirituality thread and you know how I feel - nothing in the Bible rules out theories of evolution. You can dismiss the theories as junk science if you wish - but you don't HAVE to reject evolutionary theory just because you are Christian. They can totally coexist. Which should not be taken as me telling you that you should believe in evolution, either. That's up to you to weigh the evidence and see if it makes sense to you. But I do not think that the Bible and evolutionary theory contradict one another at all, if you accept that God is on an eternal time scale.
Well, I honestly say I had started up a few flame wars in the past, As I know a few remember.
And if any one wants to end this disussion, Please do tell me.
And also, I think that if the bible is God's work, Then I think he's being a bit big headed about saying he's perfect. Even if he is a almighty god. Surely he would of made one mistake in his life. But I am not trying to start a fire fight but, Isn't there any mistakes of god in the bible?
Because you usually have to experience everything to know what it is like. Don't you?
Big headed, he made the flipping universe and saved the whole of humankind, or at least is offering to. He can be as big headed as he wants. Lol.
No...he's never made a mistake. To say that good has made a mistake is like saying that water is ridiculously dry. Lol. And you dont need experience to know how everything is if you made everything, lol. Thats why if you say "nobody's perfect" in a church you will almost immediatley hear a chorus of "except God"s. At least, thats how it works in a baptists church, lol.
Well true that he could be big headed, But you wouldn't have a super hero save the world and then them write about glotting about saving it. But it's that pride God's showing? And isn't pride on of the deadly sin?
And with water being dry, That's possible. Freeze it to about -100, Now touch it, Now you have dry Ice, Which is frozen water. And with no one's prefect. Does that mean god is a person? Or a sprit as the bible once mentioned?
And with the experience thing, Are you meaning if God made everything and all matter he knows what he is doing because it showed out so well?
And if you think that god created everything, Then why not ask a question about my athist view on the big bang? Just so I don't look like I am attacking christianity.
The bible isn't a book of gloating. It's like a massive book of rules and suggestions, and stories and such that dictate the kinds of acts jesus and people of god performed so we have something akin to role models.
I'm not going to continue that in a side discussion cuz we're splitting hairs there and it's just an analogy.
Jesus is/was god incarnate, so technically he can be/was a person. He's also a spirit. Alot of atheists and new beleivers have trouble wrapping their minds around the three-in-one concept. My smallgroup leader likes to say it this way: he is john the husband to his wife, john the father to his son, and john the small group leader to us. He's three people, but one person at the same time.
He knows what he's doing because he litterally wrote the book on the entire universe, in the form of the bible, and because he is omnicient. He can think ahead of time in terms of milenea, and has the whole of infinity mapped out like a giant chess game. That's not to say that everything is decided for us, you can deviate from god's plan for you, but he has contingency plans for that. Thats the reason not all of humanity is saved, because he does not want to force jesus down our throats.
I don't mind you "attacking" christianity, as long as you have reasons to back up your questions and comments. Sometimes i go out of my way to make freinds with athiests because they ask good questions, questions i can ask of my family and christian friends to further myself in my understanding of the bible.
And i dont really have any questions about the athiest veiws of the big bang and such because i've read up on it fairl well. Atheists can look at us and ask "so you think some guy on a cloud created the universe? Isn't that just a little...stupid?" but we can look right back and say "you beleive there was a point of infinite mass surronded by nothing, and then there was the universe. Is that so different?"
Plus the conversation is a good natured discussion between friends, both parties being fairly even tempered. It's not going anywhere bad fast
well now what am i going to do with my nuke?
You could Nuke Iraq.
*Alowl snickers at his veru cruel evil and possible offensive joke.*
But really, You could nuke something else. *Alowl ponders on what to nuke.*
Don't you mean China?
And NOOO! NOT CHINA!
Then where will we get our happy meal toy from McDonalds from?
*Alowl begin to go teary in his eyes.*
*Alowl looks confused.*
Where?
Hello Phantom and I don't think it is needed, I red over Prokadae's reaction to it and I first thought, Oh no, Not more God is the almighty stuff again I heard a thousand times before.
But Prokadae, you have got some valid point and some I can't really argue any furture, Or try and crack at the furture chat about.
Ad it is true that athistism is pretty much believing in a creator but not calling him a god but more of a mass of unknown elements. And I think it's morea bout the two rock smashing together to create Star dust and as the star dust spread out and turn in clouds of stardust, It creats energy, Which is electrons and things similar to create atoms, Then hydrogen was created and then the different combinations of atom particles to creat new elements which then created life and Etc.
And here's my question now, As for the bible, I was told it is like a Code book. Being that answers are within it and dates are also. Like Worlde War One. Being we never experinced anything like it. But if the bible holds all the answers, Then way code it to make if difficult?
Like if I got a new Computer game and I find out the manual is in French and I can only translate it with a book only, So no computers and only very few peopla can help with translating it.
And another I thought of, If there is so many religions, Why isn't any of the other religions have holy books mentioning about other religion's holy books? Surely god didn't tell people different things to believe.
Well it is a bit cryptic at times. But the purpose of that, i think, though i dont have any scripture to back it up, is sorta like this: if you're taking a math test and someone gives you an answer key, you know the answers to the queations but not the reasons behind the answers. Later when you have another test, without an answer key, you flunk because you didnt know the reasons behind the answers. In the same way, the bible prepares us with knowledge of what good wants, not just what to do in a given situation. Plus, if you take a passage of scripture and are able to understand part of it at a time and then understand part of it later on, you can apply it better than if you understand it all at once, then forget about it just before the next test of faith arises.
Very true, And in America the Maths test are just the answers, Because over here we have to show the working out, Because if we just a answer, Right or wrong. it doesn't count.
But I see where you are coming from. But I still don't see how that the decoding of the bible can predict the start year of World War One, Only that the book is coded so people can fully understand what to do.

part of me wants to ask giza if he can help me get my picture back, but i'm fairly certain it's not possible/rather difficult, and i dont want to take advantage of him...

Just send him a message. If he isn't busy, he'll help.
"Aww... you stuck to the ceiling, didn't you?"
