What: Anthrocon 2011; The Anthropomorphic Institute of Magic.

Where: David L. Lawrence Convention Center & Westin Convention Center Hotel, Penn Ave & 10th Street, Pittsburgh, PA

When: June 23-26, 2011

Website: http://www.anthrocon.org/

Anthrocon is the world's largest convention for those fascinated with anthropomorphics, which are humanlike animal characters. We are a collection of artists, animators, writers, costumers, puppeteers, and just everyday fans who enjoy cartoon animals and their kin. Anthrocon 2011, the Anthropomorphic Institute of Magic, will take place at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA, from June 23-26, 2011 with workshops, panel discussions, an art exhibition and a dealer room, and much more! Membership is open to any and all who like to imagine what it would be like if animals could walk and talk as we do.

We are very pleased to announce that Mr. Andy Runton will be joining us at our 2011 convention as our honored guest. Mr. Runton is the man behind the endearing creatures who populate the world of Owly creations which have earned him the Howard E. Day Memorial Prize, the Harvey Award, two Ignatz Awards, and the 2006 Eisner Award for "Best Publication for a Younger Audience."

This year's theme is "The Anthropomorphic Institute of Magic."

Please visit this event's website for further details, registration and up to date information.

Going to be there, granted I live in the 'burgh, but after last years' adventure I pulled for a room. Hope to see all you and more there.

I'll give you the full story tomorrow during dinner.

But as an overview, I take the bus everywhere and I got trapped up at the convention from friday through sunday with no room to sleep at. Blaze saved my bacon two nights there. I got maybe 10hrs of sleep the whole week I was there. Thankfully I got my cane, i needed it by the end of the con.

I don't live too far from Pittsburgh, but I can't go. I really really want to, but I can't. I just know my parents won't accept it (never told them about being a furry and such). *Sigh* 2013 it seems for me to finally be able to go.

I think you may want to read this: http://www.anthrocon.org/faq/minors#explaining_furry

Also, you can bring your parents along to the con, ya know.  A number of people do.  Even MY parents attend (and my Mom works on staff. How crazy is that?)

-Always with hugs, Corliss-

for anyone who may be interested, huckers the husky and i are planning on a pasta cookoff of sorts. were just throwing the idea around right now, but any more interested parties should get ahold of him or myself. it WILL be a requirement to have a love for spicy food. im using ghost pepper sauce and im not sure what hes using, but its probably going to be a good idea to bring some milk instead of soda to drink

Cooking in hotel rooms is a no no in most venues, including Anthrocon's.

The hotel probably won't notice if you run some water through the coffee maker and then dump it into your Ramen, but it's kinda hard to ignore an entire pot of pasta or similar.

Just sayin'.

*Alowl shuffles his eyes.*

I like to say this: MIGHT!

Now what I was going to say, I might be coming to this one, But depends on events at the time, And if I get given premission also, As for my mum does not like the idea of me traveling over a sea with me having a fear of flying, Which I guess everyone knows now.

But it's a might, So I not sure.

As for my mum does not like the idea of me traveling over a sea with me having a fear of flying, Which I guess everyone knows now.

The first time I ever was in a plane, it was to fly across the Atlantic to London. My personal reccommendation would be not to have a window seat, and to treat it like a long car ride. Take a book, or try to nap. Honestly, flying feels very much like being on a very smooth car ride. I understand phobias, and that fear can sometimes be unreasonable, but flying is one of those things that I think can be conquered with a bit of willpower & creativity. I hope you will try to come. It would be fun to meet you!

Hehe, Thanks morgain, As for Anthrocon, I guess it'e going to be a miss again, And then next year after that, My mum has desided I can't go with my friends in my own country for more than a day trip because I am legally not allowed into bars and clubs and so on. So it's a night life issue for me, So I can't go with my friends here before I am 18. So I plan to tell a small white lie which kind of words in both favours. As I don't think my mum knows the drinking age in america which is 21 if I remember. (I don't like drinking either and it's 18 here so I could use it to my advantage.) Being I have a willing friend to look after me I guess because he said he would try to take me there because I wanted to go and he is a very nice person so is trust worth. (Giza's twin from England if your wondering.) So I am thinking about seeing everyone, I get to finally make an appearance in the fur to people here, I think only everyone knows me from pictures and videos so, I want to be there in the fur.

As for flying in a plane, I had the idea of taking sleeping pills for the trip because I think it's an 8 hour fly or more, if I time it well, with the sleeping. As for a book or something similar, with the terrorist attacks, I think they don't allow hand luggage anymore, And I am one for electronic devices, So I guess it's a no no. And readings not my thing, So sorry about that. But I guess chatting could waste the time away tho, But talking for over 8 hours seems a bit awkward I think after a while, Seems like topics would dry up fast if convertation isn't flowing. *Alowl remembers about Dungoens and Dragons.* If hand luggage was allowed, Possible could play that, Use the dinner trays on the back of the seats to roll the dice on and a booklet of the game to play by. (Thayne a friend on mine, AKA Giza's twin. Told me that you can play it that way, And I have been invited to a game that way next time I am having fun at LondonFurs again.) So that's an idea. So sorry to say, I can't make it for a few years, I will only be around in text tho. *Alowl looks at the date.* Wow, I should start a Countdown clock or something.
