Hello everyone. I am sure you all know about trolls and haters of us furries. i submit to you that they are ignorant and their attacks upon us are severely unintelligent. despite this i believe a Council of Defense should be formed and that we should do something about those who choose to humiliate fellow furries. we are a family, though we live distances from each other.
The council should be made of on-line furry leaders, people who administrate sites, are prominent artists and experienced Anthrocon Attendees. their purpose would be to get enough members to work, and i use that loosely, for the council to locate and prevent abuse of family members. when someone new comes they may be criticized, on and off-line, about it. They will need someone to talk to. We will provide a designated person to do that. If someone is posting unwanted stuff on any site including you tube, to a certain extent, we will have someone attempt to remedy that. And anything that could offend us. we do not know exactly how to do this yet, but that is part of the problem and the solution. we need to work together for a safe and secure Fur-ciety. i have seen some nasty videos on you tube calling furries all manner of things. That must be stopped and cannot be tolerated.
the secondary function for this council would be to change the stereotypical view that we are all perverted loons. in a sense it does not bother me or others and that strength should be spread to all,, but at the same time i want to bash their heads in. that sadly is illegal so we will utilize this council however we can to peacefully deal with these problems.
As of now i am the only member and because of my limited experience i am only going to act as The Founder and a sort of director( plus i love to write, it is my second profession) , but my hope is that elder furries will take up this crusade
This council will fully submit to any Anthrocon rules and regulations along with the utalized sites involved. we are not above the furry rules!
very true...most of the money made at furcons and anthrocon goes to charity anyway and that is a good thing...people just believe whatever the media says too readily...like they are being breast fed ..

well it could work and there is no risk http://www.cnn.com/ireport/ this is a link to where you submit stories that could make it on CNN the most watched news station in the world if we can get this right it could be an elevator to success i'm gonna write a story about how the media gets us wrong but i'm going to do this in a positive manner so maby we can win them over the worst that could happen is we get rejected, but on t5he other hand we could get interviewed and that could bring up the furry name and possibly wipe it off of "the list of things that people should be ashamed of" so you think we could give it a shot, and if possible get other fellow furs to participate.~time to get serious~

the only thing i wish we could do is like have a hierarchy we could ok this with ya know? i want do do whatever it takes to stop all the internet trolling and stupid crap like that...so yeah...write something and mail it to me i'll send you my e-mail and do you think i should write something new? i was thinking of explaining the social boundaries within the furry fandom...i would of course have to talk about yiff..i can't just 'leave it out' then again i would be able to explain what exactly is unlike the people the news asked.....what do you think

i just watched a few interview and stuff on youtube..another is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7JRPBp452k there are so many sub cultures in the furry fandom...i think that is what i will write about.. the fact that there are so many and you can't accurately judge people until you know them and in this case the particular sub-part of the fandom they are in...i will let you know when i'm done and send you a copy ....do you think the media will actually look at our stuff? CNN is not exactly the best one (politicaly that is) but at this point i am not a big fan of any news. the only way i get my news now is the radio mornignshow...they are the only group that isn't biased anymore ya know? any way back on topic and enough of my rambling..i'll get to work..

I believe any efforts to silence critics may do more harm than good.
At the core, I see some basic free speech issues. While people who criticize furries may be mean spirited individuals, our legal system also gives them the right to do so. You in turn have the right to criticize them back, or ignore them entirely if you so desire.
I would suggest that ALL participants in this thread visit this page and review the articles under "Free Speech Law". They will provide more background on what sort of speech is allowed under our legal system.
As an aside, I've attended every Anthrocon over the last 10 years, as well as numerous other furry conventions. I personally do not feel that I am in any need of "defending".

Giza does have a point, and i'm srry i was just going to try to approach it in the most positive manner, but then i got thinking this probably wont do anything, but then again it could then i went into a spiralof mass confusion so i decide to wait until somthing like this happened, so my actions are from here on discontinued. i understand, and your probably right...i just wish there was something we could do to add a more positive light to the fandom. and by "defending" it is just that i have heard and/or seen many negative thing about us and that angers me... . if there is nothing we can do that won't provke those mean spirited individuals then so be it..i suppose i should just ignore them... and i didn't mean to offend you by saying you needed "defending", that was not my intent...

i suppose an amendment to this post is in order. Due to the revelation Giza has submitted to us...i will admit my tone in the origonal post had a hint of retaliation against haters in it...and since Giza has informed me that i would do no good...(sigh) Giza is probably right so instead i just want people to be aware that there are idiots and morons out there who will attack you because you are a part of the fandom no matter your preferences so watch out^-^
I agree we should do so! but it's a confusing concept, but i would like to see it attempted, it would be great if we could get on CNN for an interview then we'd realy kick the sterio-typers in the forhead!!this is a great idea now that i think about it, could it be possible to get communitivly active,things such as:charities, parads, and community survice etc., etc. but then again it could tke a while for all that to happen you know....but it should at least be attempted!!!somthing needs to be done!~>_<~
