Hello world!

I'm Catorrina. The nickname came before the purple martin fursona. It's in no way an attempt at lame irony. That was born of its own accord. I swear.

Although I'm relatively new to this, my sister Avenger, the wolf, has been on for a while now, but I only took interest for her sake at first, so for the past few months, I've been stubbornly insisting that I was "furry friendly, but not really furry." I went to Anthrocon 2011, and enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere- something nice for someone shy like me. Anyway, somewhere between registration and the fursuiter dancing in the elevator on our trip to the door, I changed my mind. I dug up my fursona quite by accident looking for faerie names for a (later scrapped) story idea, and that was that.

Anyway, I'm currently a high school student, 11th grade. My favorite subjects are art, history, and English. I enjoy reading a little too much, drawing a little too much and writing a little too...in the middle of class. I'll be participating in NaNoWriMo again this year (35k last year, not too bad). I like jet skiing, ice skating (only been out once though), traveling, and woodcarving. None of which are good for an easily confused klutz like myself, but I've never been to the hospital, so there's a good sign! Carving is my favorite hobby now. I just started with pine portraits that I'm hoping to sell once I get the hang of them.

I also volunteer at the elementary and high school libraries, shelving books, stamping books, and sorting the card catalog. It gets me first dibs on all the new books, free access to the copier (15 cents a page adds up when you're broke), and muffins. So it's great. I also work as a volunteer journalist for my school newspaper and the actual local newspaper. (Considering the conflict between furries and the media, I hesitated to post that, but it's a big part of me, so I will. I also will post every side thought I have in writing this. Because I like the parentheses.)

Guess that's me in a nutshell.
