Hey everyone,

I've had some folks ask my recent what's going on with the site, and am I still maintaining it?

The answer is yes, I am still running the website. Sadly, it is long overdue for some upgrades, and a move to a much faster server. I hope to have that done sometime in the next weekends, as my schedule permits.

Watch this space for more info and announcements.

Just wondering what server hardware the site is running on. I'm assuming you already have an upgrade path planned but I'm just curious! ^_^;

Not so much "server", but "cluster". Smile The site is currently hosted by NearlyFreeSpeech.

The problem with NearlyFreeSpeech is that while they're great for mostly static, high volume websites, their MySQL performance leaves much room for improvement.

The eventual plan for this site is to move it onto a virtual machine (that I already have) from Linode. That way, I'll be guaranteed certain amounts of CPU time and disk I/O. And if things go wrong, I'll have the Munin graphs to back me up.

Right now, the main thing that's holding me back is time. When I move the site, I plan on upgrading it to Drupal 6, which shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, but I only have so many hours in the day... Sad

Ah cool, sounds like a sweet plan. I never actually got to implement a server that was a virtual machine but I've heard its all the rage now. Sounds awesome and I can sympathize with the "only so many hours in a day".
