(Not a furry fan? That's cool. You're still welcome here.)
Hello all. As you can guess I'm new here. I just stumbled upon the fandom a few months ago, but I like it. I particularly like the fursuits, and have been trying to make one of a generic orange fox. A few photos of my progress can be found here.
I'm 24 and work as an engineer here in Pittsburgh. I know I'm a little old to just be getting into the fandom, but oh well, I'm still a kid at heart.
I am by no means an artist, so I won't be sketching up anything anytime soon. But some of the artwork and fursuits that I see are nothing short of spectacular.
On a side note, I'm also a member of the NRA. A furry in the NRA, go figure. For the record, I don't hunt, I'm a recreational traget shooter.
Welcome! And don't think that you're too old to be in the fandom. I've met Furries ranging in ages from early teenagers to 60s or 70s.
Welcome to another Pittsburgh fur! And don't feel bad about bing "late" to the fandom. I was 29 when I learned about furry....
Thanks for the warm welcomes. I can tell this will be fun.
I'd imagine that there are a lot of Furs here in Pittsburgh, being that we host Anthrocon every year.
Glad to know that I'm not the old one here. I guess that the suiters would tend to be of the more adult crowd. I have a feeling that most highschoolers don't have a few grand to through at a commision, and about as many actually make their own suits.
Welocme to the site, Hope you like it here, Feel free to message me too.
Man this place is friendly, I love it. It's good to be here.
And I'm an electrical engineer. I was lucky enought to know freshman year in high school what I wanted to do, so I didn't have to deal with the aweful "what will I do with my life" problem. Thankfully I was able to complete the course work, earn the degree, and land a job that I love.
Hiya and welcome to the site! I hope ya like it here. I'm in pittsburgh myself, mayhaps we can do something sometime! Feel free to pm or im me anytime ya like, i'll be.. around. Have fun~ *curls up under some blankets*
welcome to the fandom I'm also new to it so
don't feel shy.
Well thanks again to everyone.
As for hanging out in Pittsburgh, I'll be watching the events calander waiting for something to pop up. Hopefully there will be something low key that's good to actually meet other furries for the first time at. Maybe even something to try out the fursuit that I'm trying to make and see what it's like.
Welcome fellow fur and NRA member! I myself am an electronics engineering technician. As for joining furry "late"...I was in my 30's when I found this fandom.
I was 38 before I even heard of furries! And 41 when I went to my first con.
The important thing, as you pointed out P87NE, is that we're all kids at heart!!
Arc flash are you sure that you're not just copying me?
A fur with a fox fursuit, an NRA member, and electrical engineering. That can't be a common combination. Well okay maybe the fox thing is common, and I suppose that there could be other electrical engineers. But I didn't expect to find any other gun people here. Usually the NRA and the furry fandom are exact opposite stereotypes.
I was here before you...so maybe your copying me!
Anyway, there's an NRA group on Furaffinity!
Ok, how about we just say that neither of us is copying the other, we are just both mutually awesome.
I can't find the NRA group on FA, link?
Mucho gracias for the link
I found the pic of Sako223 with his M1919A4 BMG and I still can't believe that I have found such an example of the overlap between us furries and us gun nuts all while maintaining such a level of extreme excellence. It will be a while before the grin fades from my face.
Edit:
Apparently it's not running .50 BMG, instead it's running 7.62x51mm. Still amazing nonetheless.
It's muchas gracias not mucho.
Well that's what I get for trying to use a language that I don't know. I'll stick with English from now on.
There are quite a few "gun furs" out there, actually. And there are plenty of folks such as myself who consider themselves "gun friendly". (One reason why I don't own is because I chose to go carless awhile back, and I don't think SEPTA would want me to bring any rifles or shotguns on their vehicles
)

Yay! Another Pittsburgh fur! Welcome!
