Come to my house and we will work together on making those fun, flowy, EASY-TO-MAKE wrap pants. Bring your own fabric if at all possible; if not, I do have lots of fabric but not a lot of large pieces so we may have to piece it together...oh wait, they're HIPPIE pants, so much the better!! ;-) Contact me if you need to know how much/what type fabric to get. I have lots of space and a decent work table and a few sewing machines and, as mentioned, SOME spare fabric. After we make our pants, we will wear them and have a party! |
and after you wear the pantd, you will take them off and have a party! ...?
LOL, apparently you've never been to a party at my house.... they are kinda like a sunday school picnic compared to "real" furry parties
That's what happens when you party with old people.
If only I lived closer
Update for anyone who is thinking of getting fabric for this:
Basically, you need a rectangular piece of fabric that is as long as you want the pants to be (measure from your waist to where you want the pants to end; they can be shorts, capris, whatever length you like) and the width should be approximately three to four times your waist measurement.
Generally, fabric off the bolt at the fabric store is 50 or 60 inches long, which will be longer than even the tallest person will need for full-lentgh pants, so just buy a piece that is three to four times your waist size.
Fabrics that would work well include but are not limited to: gauzey cotton, lightweight cotton prints, silky stuff, linen, chambray, lightweight denim, lightweight knits, seersucker.... basically anything that is not too heavy. Even flannel would work. Also, a fun option is to make the pants out of a see-through material and wear them over tights or stretch pants or shorts.
If you are going fabric shopping, there are a bunch of 50% coupons in the Jo-Ann's flyer in today's Post Gazette. I have extras if you don't get the newspaper.
And again, I do have some fabric to share, but you're limited there to the styles and colors I have on hand.
One last thing: I'm planning to have another crafty party a month or so after this one, and the next one would be a TIE-DYE party.
So, you may want to keep that in mind when choosing pants fabric: if you want to dye your pants, make sure your fabric is at least 50% cotton so it will take the dye. The only dye-able fabric I have to offer is some white flannel.
just pm with any questions or concerns, or just to RSVP!
Here somebody made a pair from a vintage tablecloth, wht a border pattern:

also, sheets would work too. if you can find some ata thrift shop with a cute print (and no stains!)
chenille or terry would be fun...
I so want to do this still.. Really hoping I'll be off.. and Zelda may I patch together some fabrics of yours? I'll gladly use ones you don't like lol
I would love to attend this!!! Would someone be able to tell me where in perspective this is to where I am?
Please email me at: Rootsfxstudio@gmail.com
Thanks,
Zev.
this sounds like a great time!
Ah, well if you don't mind sparing some fabric cuz I don't really got money to get my own right now I'd love to come try an make a pair
This shoulds like it would pretty awesome to do... other than the fact that I've never sewn anything in my life beofre....
Oh no! Suddenly, good things happening all at once! I might not be able to make this after all, due to the fact that I expect to be packing to move the following weekend! *crosses fingers* I'll have to wait and see what happens in the next few days...
Besides, with moving expenses, I'm not going to be able to buy myself fabric
and I doubt Zelda has enough laying around to support me...
Oh, but I DO have enough for you, and for at least several more people, too, Morgain; as long as you can find something you like from what I have on hand.
BUT I can see you not being able to get out if you're moving the next weekend! I'll just have to catch you another time.
im all for this idea, just need to get mahself some nice fabric that breezy
O.O o mai, i really like those.
lol i found Giza's

Okay people, it is getting close to the day, and I need to know a close estimate of number.... Please PM me if you are planning on coming for real, and also please let me know if you could give a ride to anyone else.
also, I made a test pair, and my estimate of fabric needed was a bit high... you probably only need a piece 2 to 3 times your waist measurement.
....and a BOOK!!
