Important Info
Date:
 Friday, August 22, 2014
Time: 6pm to whenever
Location: Schenley Plaza
Costs: Free!
Additional Notes: There are plenty of food options around Schenley Plaza, if you need to grab a bite to eat. Fursuiting is welcome, so knock yourselves out.

The plaza is accessible by the 61 and 71 buses, as well as the 54C/D. There is also metered parking readily available, though you should be in the clear after 6p.

Please Note: This is an open-ended, free-form kind of meet. Furs come and go throughout the evening, typically wandering off for food sometime before 8p. If you arrive at the Plaza and there's very few (or no) furs around, stick around for a while. We do wander back after we've decended on the local restaurants for food.

I'm a little confused; isn't the Schenley Plaza meets usually on the last Friday of every month?

It's typically the fourth Friday of every month. Often, that's the last Friday of the month. Sometimes, it's not.

It takes a million compliments to build you up. And one insult to send it all crashing down.

In general is it faux pas to take remove ones head? It is August and I plan on losing my head from time to time because of the humidity. Thats just me though. So far I've only ben in suit for an hour tops, on the cooler days we had recently. I figured I would ask a pro... Thanks.

There are some that will say it's a terrible thing to ruin the magic. However, I, and many other suiters out there, have come to value health and safety over the magic. If you can be discreet about it, so much the better. But if you're dying in your suit and you just have to take your head off, go for it.

I understand, it's something that takes time to show your IRL Self to others. Take your time and you have most of our support here. As for the regular public, the meet's in the late evening and gets dark so it's pretty much just the ones who show up the darker it gets.

The meet is in a public park, adjacent to the college campus. There is no reason to feel unsafe, as we hold our meets in venues such as this for the express reason of allowing people to come and go as they please.

If you truly are afraid, I hope you get a chance to know people online and hopefully change your mind. And if it's just shyness, I can totally understand that as well, and can't wait to meet you in your suit!

Okay.  That collaborates a few grumbles I've caught wind of where furs have headed over from further out of town, arived around 8pm, and said there hadn't anyone there.

I thought as the event planner that you should be aware that it has been voiced as a problem/issue/concern.  It may be too late to address it this year with only two or three opportunities to meet at the plaza left, so maybe keep it in mind for next year.

I can keep it in mind, but it's not exactly something I can control. People come and go when they feel like. That's why it's an open-ended meet. The encouragement has always been for folks to go get their food and bring it back to the Plaza to continue to hang out. I can't force any fur to abide by that, nor am I going to.

And while it's all well and good that folks are going to someone with concerns, by not bringing them up to me in a timely manner, I can't exactly address the issues within a timeframe that will have a meaningful impact.

If someone is upset that they feel there aren't people at Schenley Plaza when they arrive, it might not be a bad idea for them to express their late arrival in the forum, and perhaps others will feel more inclined to adjust their schedules. I know Sage waits till 730 to eat her dinner, because that is the earliest I can arrive after getting out of work at 7. I know there are a few other furs who eat around a similar time, for similar reasons of everyone in their dining group arriving at vaguely the same time-frame.

I know that if I was expecting someone, I might be more inclined to get my dinner to-go, rather than eating at the restaurant before heading to the last half of the meet...

Sage;

I've heard from a few people who have arrived later in the evening (8pm'ish) that at a certain time in the evening, during this event, most of the group heads somewhere to get a bite to eat.  For folks who are coming in from the outlying areas, or may show up late, what time might that occur so folks may plan for it.

Thank you. Smile

It's not actually a set time. It ranges between about 6:30 and 8:00, mostly dependent upon when someone decides that they want to go get food. Typically, Morgain and I will wander off around 7:30 to grab a bite to eat, but that's about the only folks I can say, with certainty, have a set time for dinner.

It's kind of random. At some point someone will say "food" and then everyone else is like "fooooood" and we go on a mission for noms.
